PTE ACADEMIC IS CHANGING
As per Pearson, few improvements are being made to PTE Academic to make it more convenient for both the test takers and the institutions. It was announced on September 7, 2021 and shall be applicable from upcoming months.PTE will still be accepted by the same educational institutes and professional bodies worldwide.
1. Shorter Duration
The current duration of PTE Academic is 3 hours which will be reduced to 2 hours from November 16, 2021. The sole purpose of shortening the duration is to make the experience less stressful for test takers.
New version of the test will mark the same four skills i.e. Speaking, Writing, Reading and Listening with the same 20 question types but the number of questions will be reduced to 52-64 from 72-80.
All the tests booked from November 16, will automatically be 2 hours tests.
2. More Streamlined Score Card
The score report of PTE Academic features Communicative Skills as well as Enabling Skills. In the new version of this test, Enabling skills will be removed from the score report rather a separate skills profile shall be displayed to help test takers identify their areas for improvement.
The report shall still be showing the overall score and communicative scores for each skill.
There shall be no changes to the overall format or scoring scale of the test.
3. PTE Academic Online
Considering the closure of test centers in various parts of the world due to pandemic, PTE is launching an online proctored test which students can attempt from the comfort of their homes while the test booking shall be made available from October 25, 2021.
This home based online version of the test shall be identical to the one taken in test centers but it is important to note that it will only be accepted as a part of university or college applications and not valid for immigration purpose.
